Employers and companies can benefit from hiring Veterans. Military personnel are often cross-trained in multiple skills and have experience in varied tasks and responsibilities. Many Veterans have learned what it means to put in a hard day's work. They have also come to appreciate the challenges and satisfaction of a job well done. Much of this experience can translate to their participation in the workforce making the Veteran an asset on the job.
Join Tri-Vets Community Action Team and conference partners, Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, NEPA Society for Human Resource Management, PA CareerLink, Veterans Administration, Northeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Multicare Alliance, Luzerne County Community College and chambers of commerce in Lackawanna, Luzerne and Wyoming counties, for a day of education on how to attract, hire and retain Veterans in the workforce.
Attendees will enjoy sessions during the day long conference that include information on:
Department of Labor tax and VA training incentives and programs
Employer services provided by veterans representatives through PA CareerLink
How to support Veterans in the workplace, military structure, culture and deployment
How to develop and brand a corporate culture that appeals to Veterans
How to source, interview, offer, onboard and retain Veterans in your workforce
The conference includes morning beverages and pastries, lunch, time for networking, and a comprehensive information packet with tools you can use to help create a successful veterans hiring initiative for your organization.
This is a Friday dress down event, denim and sneakers are welcome.
